I think the teqnique is awesome, nailed the whole weathered & aged look. The only thing I don't like about it is the full pieces of the rust color. I would think going with a layer of the silver on the whole piece, then accenting the rest with the tan and rust colors. Just my opinion, but still an awesome job.

I've been really busy the last few days and haven't had a chance to get much done, so just a small update for now.

I started to airbrush the main body. Here it is with some of tape for the different colors and pieces:

and here it is with the tape pulled off (Not Finished)

I went to remove some of the tape to get a feel for the whole thing (Not finished yet) and it started to remove some of the paint. looks like I will have to fix that.

I also got the other sections of the resevoir supports made. I forgot to take a picture though. Maybe tomorrow night I will get them mounted to the resevoir brackets and can test fit it in the tube. I noticed somethign else I completly forgot about while working. The led light bar I instaled on the bottom of the tube goes right thru where the tubes from the resevoir are supposed to come thru the bottom. Again, I'll have to redo this area somehow.

I dont know.. I actually like it that way. It looks like the paint is falling off from old age. But its your project and do what you think is cool, otherwise you will never be happy with it. Good Luck and its lookin good.

I agree but if you chose to leave it like that add a bit of rust and rust stain to the areas around the black patches.

good point you guys, however I probably should have mentioned, that area is actually going to be covered up by the window and trim ring. I wonder if this medicine I"m on is makeing it difficult for me to remember/think of things. I keep forgetting little details like this lately.

I'd like to retract what I said about the painting style. Seeing it all put together like this really brings the color scheme together. I like it.

I'd have to agree with Dan. If you want an aged / weathered look, that is certainly one way to get it.

Keep it up renderman. The turbine is lookin great!!
