You are a detective called to the scene of a crime, here is what you find...

A man was found murdered one Sunday morning and his wife immediately called the police. The police questioned the wife and staff and was given these alibis:
-The Wife said she was in bed reading a book.
-The Cook claimed she cooking breakfast.
-The Gardener claimed he was planting seeds.
-The Maid claimed she was getting the mail.
-The Butler claimed he polishing the silver.

You arrest the murderer. Who did it and how did you know?
The maid, no mail on sunday

Three brothers share a family sport:
    A non-stop marathon
The oldest one is fat and short
    And trudges slowly on
The middle brother's tall and slim
    And keeps a steady pace
The youngest runs just like the wind,
    Speeding through the race
"He's young in years, we let him run,"
    The other brothers say
"'Cause though he's surely number one,
    He's second, in a way."

    I would have arrested the whole lot;

Seriously, who reads a book in bed on sunday morning?
Breakfast does not take long enough to be an alibi...(although knowing what was for breakfast would help)
Gardeners do not work on sunday.
Mail is not delivered on sunday.
Silver is polished on saturday as sunday is usually the big meal with the fine silver.

And how did the guy die? Blow to the head from a large object? (the wife's large book?) Stabbed with fine silver with a trace of polish? Poisoned? (there goes the breakfast alibi) Struck with a sharp object with particles of compost embedded in the wound? Who knows, maybe the maid is the only innocent one and was only trying to cover her ass from forgetting to pick up the mail on saturday... Or the guy fell down the stairs after tripping on the rug...

Well maybe we should arrest you too! I mean c'mon, who takes riddles that seriously?

I'm on to you Mr. Bozo, I'm on to you.

But no really, I was thinking pretty much the same thing. lol
People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool.

lol, you'd make a great forensic investigator Boz, you asked all the right questions. But no, the maid did it, I was there and saw everything.

Jon you have way too much time on your hands, and have far too smart a brain for your own good.

We should have a contest here to see who can post the most difficult riddles, this is getting fun!
