Hello again! I should have another update this weekend. To tide you over check out this sweet photosynth Darkfibre put together of the case at PAX PRIME 2011! This guy has unintentionally taken pictures of my last 3 casemods in his documenting of the PAX conventions.

If you look in the other galleries you can see one of my earlier ... ummmm.... attempts at a casemod? You might recognize some of the parts that I've cannibalized for future project. I apologize for the rough edges but... I was (and still am) learning. Unfortunately, I have no work log for that attempt.

Mini-Update!!!

I just got off the phone with a local foundry and they're cutting me a deal. If I show up with the moulds already made they'll only charge the me cost of the aluminum to pour it! This means I'll be doing all of the mould making and metal clean-up (cutting off sprues and down-pours) myself....

which is AWESOME!!!!!!

The shin guards will cost $12USD each and the legs about $9-10USD each for an estimate of around $80 to get all of them done!!! Considering I paid $90 for 1 gallon of resin to do 4 legs, this is an incredible deal for a quality I can control.

I am back on track again!

lol, This one IS actually still on the table. I have a surprise for it be it's going to be another couple of months before I can revive it. I have to build 2 tools to finish it.

I agree whole-heartedly. The project isn't scrapped, simply on hold until it can be finished properly. I just need more tools (i.e. furnace, crucible, metal tongs, large pressurized propane tank) to continue. I'm also going to start experimenting with cold casting some of the parts in September/October. I might also recast some of the parts to make the case look more like the actual storm strider.
