My girlfriend's brother somehow picked up that laptop for 299 at BestBuy. When he said he got a laptop for 300 bucks I assumed he bought an eee but turned out he didn't. Thanks for the heads up in HHD's!
EDIT: Check this out if you don't mind refurb. Pretty nice laptop for the price I'd say.
I use an eMachine laptop sometimes at my job and I must say it is not great. The screen flickers when I tilt it, and it just feels cheap. I do not know how this model it but I would not recommend the brand. That said it still is a good deal if you won't be abusing the laptop too much.
It's great for mid-range computing.

I hate emachines computers. I don't know what the quality is like now. It could have improved.
It has. Ever since Acer bought out Gateway (who already owned Emachines) it's gotten a lot better.
At one time, Emachine computers were really ruined by their known-for-exploding Bestec PSU's

My main pc is an emachine, bought a few years ago, when 512mb was a lot of memory
I'm still using it now!
I just added a gpu, sound and wireless network card, new psu, some memory and customized the case a little
Its lasted me a loong time and they seem somewhat worth it

My first mod was an emachine that I still have. It ran fine all the way till the day I decided to gut it. I put the parts in another case and it still runs.
