This seems like an awesome idea, cost as much or cheaper than traditional VGA or composite 7" monitors. I do have some concern about the compatibility with linux though.
One cool idea this gives me is to hook a bunch up to a central computer and have them spread throughout a house as access terminals for a home automation system. Not sure on the prices of traditional systems but this might be comparable and easier for the average DIYer to set-up themselves.
Did anyone else notice the LCARS interface on the touchscreen model on Mimo's website?
If I weren't trying to cut back on spending seeing as I just got laid off I'd definitely pick up one of these to play with. I'd like to see a review if anyone on here gets one.
How is video over USB even possible? That's insane. Someone please do a review the second they pick one up!
Looks like something everyone could use.
Defiantly worth the money for a 7" USB Monitor.
Displays in Portrait, and Landscape orientation. Cool.
The resolution could be better though. And I wouldn't imagine the colors being awfully sharp.
There's a nice review of the 710 here. Apparently they're actually really nice and sharp. If you think about it, the pixel density is about the same as if you had a 1600x920 14" display.
@BuzzKillington:
They use a USB video adapter made by the same company, similar to this. Most of the USB adapters I've seen have been rated up to 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 resolutions, though you won't want to try to do anything requiring any graphics power.
Went ahead and got one of these Mimo minis. Will post a review soon.
Clarity is awesome. Would recommend for sure, simple USB installation.
Sweet! Will definitely be watching for that.
I want to pick up a couple of the touch screens. Have an idea bouncing around the brain box for a carpc setup.
This would be amazing for an EeePC.
