I'd like to add that the only reason I'm able to contribute anything is that TGS sent me a free MSI 3870x2. My cpu is pretty pathetic for this but the card does enough to justify running it.
alrighty then. im back online, running my 870 at 4.0, with a big thanks to Cj for hooking me up with this beastly cooler. With any sort of luck i'll have some new pictures up of my LED mod to my evga board, and pics of the new aircooling setup that now resides in blue storm... I'm slightly excited in case you can't tell.
Not dead yet
I'm glad you are happy with it!

There are OS issues with different brands of GPU - apparently it's no problem in 7 and (I think) XP but Vista doesn't play nice with odd combo's

So they are not in SLI right? Cuz SLI has to be the exact same card correct?

Yes, SLi needs essentially the same cards.
As long as the OS allows for multiple drivers then you can run whatever you want as long as you have the slots for it. You can't set entirely different cards to work in tandem/sli/crossfire (well not without hydra), but if you aren't trying to do that you can essentially toss whatever into your rig. Right now I've got the GTX280 running my 22" and the living rooms LCD, while a x16 7600GS physically cut down to x1 is running my secondary monitor.
System's are up! Over 70k PPD from the pair.
Have you checked out the front page lately?
